I once heard a famous photojournalist speak at a conference. She told young photographers that there are good stories everywhere and advised to look for them locally. She said: "there are great photos to be taken right in your own backyard." Today I took that advice. Literally.
(A little on the technique: this is light-painted in the dark over a few minutes. No Photoshop trickery. I moved a flashlight with a very narrow beam around and lit the leaf with various angles that would show its texture. The longer the light stays on one area, the brighter it appears to the camera. Yes, there are some less laborious ways to take photos.)
